Police in Scotland are investigating a raid on a Currys PC World shop in Dumfries, which saw the thieves escape with approximately £40,000 worth of goods.
Among the items stolen were laptops, iPads, MacBook Pros, Nintendo consoles, smart phones and an Xbox One, the Daily Record reported.
This theft comes just weeks after Currys PC World in Hamilton, Lanarkshire was also targeted in another burglary, while more recently there was also a theft at the company’s Southport branch, with thieves getting away with thousands of pounds worth of goods.
Speaking to the newspaper, detective constable Mark McLachlan said: “We believe there are at least three people involved and a large car or van would be required to make off with the amount of equipment that was stolen.”
He also urged anyone who saw anything suspicious around the College Main Retail Park in the early hours of Tuesday 10 December to contact police. DC McLachlan also pointed out that the industrial estate is near the A75, so urged drivers to think about whether they saw anything that morning.
“We’re looking at a number of offences up and down the country to see if there’s a link,” DC McLachlan added.

Earlier this month, Assured Fire & Security shared figures showing that there’s been a significant increase in the level of retail damage and theft in recent years, with such incidents costing retailers an estimated £700,000 each year.
